Often I joke that if my Mother doesn’t behave, I’ll put her in a home when she gets old. An “old folks” home!
But really, that could be a reward for sassy behavior! There are a ton of “retirement” communities for active adults sprouting up all over the nation. Many of them are resort-type communities with lots of activities for their residents. The retirement age is widely understood to be 55, but tell me, how many 55-year olds feel or even appear “old”? Not many that we know.
How many of us have a renewed interest in what to do with our aging parents because this holiday season has just passed? My mom seems to be getting a bit more out of her mind than usual. She actually behaved this year on Christmas Day when we gathered the family together at our home. It made me think that someone is seriously worng!
I freely write this online because Mom refuses to learn how to use the internet. “Old” is a state of mind. The constant quest to learn more in life is what ages us…
Question: What do you do if your parents never planned for their retirement?
