Anna May’s real estate career started when she was 15 years old, “borrowing” her mother’s car and touring open house events in San Francisco and the East Bay hills. Already a world traveler working abroad in her teens, she came back home at 19 years old and was hired as a loan officer, earning top producer status within a few months. At 20 years old, she got into commercial leasing and business sales as a restaurant co-owner/franchisor for the Rickshaw Restaurants Inc./Rickshaw Expres chain. Her diverse business background is enhanced by her civic endeavors as a former elected official and housing authority commissioner. She was the youngest woman to win a City Council election in her hometown and her signature City Council decisions helped protect private property rights in addition to kick-starting the film & media effort in her city. As a former Commissioner for the Housing Authority of the County of Alameda, she introduced the first landlord to the Commission in many years, insisting that we must have balance in all endeavors.
Anna has earned several achievement awards and accolades over the years for her professional involvement. In addition to being recognized as a top real estate agent, she was featured in the coveted East Bay Business Times “40 Under 40” shortly after being voted “Best Real Estate Agent” in the Daily Review reader’s choice poll. A former Rotary Club President for two terms, she was presented with a “Rotarian of the Year Award” after she served as Membership Chair, having led the effort to gain a nearly 50% increase in membership of that club. She has served as president of a local Women’s Council of REALTORS chapter and maintains membership to this day.
Anna has worked on organizing numerous candidate forums for those running for public office at the local and national level, putting her knowledge and contacts as a former elected official to work. She serves on her historic Prospect Hill Neighborhood Association as a Director, having previously served as its Vice President. She is also the Founder & President of the Mt. Eden High School Alumni Association & Educational Foundation, a non-profit she created to enhance the educational and creative pursuits of high school students. In an additional display of public education and responsible use of public funds support, she has served on her local school district’s Bond Oversight Committee.
Anna loves the gentle, misunderstood nature of pit bulls and has two animal shelter rescue dogs named “Piglet” and “Rufus the Dufus”. As the original organizing members and sponsors of their local “SantaCon” phenomenon, Anna and her husband Greg lead the effort to infuse life into their downtown neighborhood every December to raise money and awareness for their local animal shelter. Anna occasionally shows up on TV commercials, film roles and print ads and is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA. She has recently started doing stand-up comedy as an outlet for the often inappropriate comments she’s inclined to make in her day job. She donates 100% of her comedy show earnings to charity.
There are several things that Anna is passionate about conveying to her real estate Clients:
- She only works with the most serious Buyers and Sellers on an Exclusive basis. This ensures her time and talents are clearly focused on her Clients. Her preference is to work by referral only and she finds the most joy working with clients who have a compatible sense of humor.
- She occasionally serves as a top producer panelist at real estate conferences and hosts training sessions for fellow agents. While representing her clients, chances are she has worked with the cooperating agent in the past on real estate transactions and has already built a strong reputation for being thorough, complete and fair both in the REALTOR community and the community at large. She serves as Committee Member for Professional Standards of the National Association of REALTORS and has served as the Social Media Chair for the Central County Marketing Group where fellow real estate professionals go to network and collaborate with each other. As a regular attendee of this and other Bay Area marketing meetings with fellow agents, her clients benefit from her well-established business and community reputation.
