Anna May's real estate career started in the early 1990's as a loan consultant, eventually morphing into retail leasing and business sales as restaurant owner/franchisor. Her diverse business background is enhanced by her civic endeavors as a former elected official and housing authority commissioner. She is the youngest woman to win a City Council election in her hometown. Her signature City Council duties included decisions that protect private property rights in addition to kick-starting the film & media effort in her city. As a former Commissioner for the Housing Authority of the County of Alameda, she introduced the first landlord to the Commission in many years, insisting that we must have balance in all endeavors.
Anna has earned several achievement awards and accolades over the years for her professional involvement. In addition to being recognized as a top real estate agent, she was featured in the coveted East Bay Business Times "40 Under 40" shortly after being voted "Best Real Estate Agent" in the Daily Review reader's choice poll. A former Rotary Club President, she was recently presented with a "Rotarian of the Year Award" where she served as Membership Chair, having led the effort to gain a nearly 50% increase in membership of that club. She occasionally serves as an organizer for her current Rotary Club's social mixers.
Anna has worked on organizing numerous candidate forums for those running for public office at the local and national level, putting her knowledge and contacts as a former elected official to work. For over 10 years, she served on her historic Prospect Hill Neighborhood Association as a Director/Vice President. She is also the Founder & President of the Mt. Eden High School Alumni Association & Educational Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to enhancing the educational and creative pursuits of high school students. She offers her real estate brokerage office space to a non-profit organization called "Cake 4 Kids", which trains volunteers to bake birthday cakes to foster children. In an additional display of public education and responsible use of public funds support, she currently serves on her local school district's Bond Oversight Committee.
There are several things that Anna is passionate about conveying to her real estate Clients:
ONE: She takes her role as a Seller or Buyer Agent seriously and only works with the most serious Buyers and Sellers. This ensures her time and talents in her real estate business are clearly focused on her Clients. She always asks to personally present her Buyer Clients' offers, especially in multiple competing offer situations. She clearly articulates the reasons a Seller may find her Buyers' offers acceptable and many a Buyer Client has benefited from her skills. For her Seller Clients, she clearly communicates what it would take for her Sellers to find a buyers' offer acceptable and has often negotiated for a higher amount in her Sellers' pockets, in part as a result of her creative marketing of each unique property.
TWO: She knows how important it is to network with fellow REALTORS. When she presents or reviews purchase contracts for her Buyer and Seller Clients, chances are, she has worked with the cooperating agent in the past on real estate transactions or has already built a strong reputation for being thorough, complete and fair, both in the REALTOR community and the community at large. This established business and community reputation is a definite advantage for her Clients' benefit.
THREE: Anna and her business partner/husband Greg Jones have chosen to remain a part of their own small boutique brokerage where they can make their own rules and have flexibility about the way they work and with whom they work. Sharing the same office suite with them is a meticulous property management company that handles the landlord-tenant aspects of real estate. Having responsible and responsive people surrounding them enables them to do what they do best -- advocate for and promote the needs of their Clients.
Anna & Greg love pit bulls and have two animal shelter rescue dogs named "Piglet" and "Rufus the Dufus". As the original organizing members and sponsors of their local "SantaCon" phenomenon, Anna & Greg lead the effort to infuse life into their downtown neighborhood every December to raise money and awareness for their local animal shelter. Anna occasionally shows up on TV commercials, film roles and print ads and is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA...
